The house is now surrounded by a network of drains designed to take the water that flows across the site and stop it entering the Sunday school. If it works we will see the walls begin to dry up over the next few weeks. Thanks NIck for a great job.

After the yellow plastic radon barrier and iron mesh the first section of the stable floor has gone down. A new conduit for a permanent water pipe was also connected under the chapel wall. The ring beam has been poured around the top of the wall. This forms lintels across the doors and window openings and provides a solid base for the roof to sit on.
Now the ring beam is in place and drying the lintel over the old double door opening is to be made using one of the steels used for the creation of the patio doors.
The stable has been cleared, Tony and Rich have added stone to the top of the wall to go in front of what will be a ring beam around the top. Nick digs the Link footings and starts on the french drains.
Jan completes the veggie beds, Tony and Rich open up a new window in what will be the stable en-suite and I cement another edge section! Sadly you can see that the walls here are still quite damp (the darker coloured areas). We hope the french drains will sort this out.
Having created flat pack veggie beds several weeks ago, today Jan put her MFI agent skills to good use and made them. Very exciting we could be growing our own veg very soon. She even has a 4 year rotation plan......we await a ministry of Agriculture visit any time!
The last sections are now being prepared for cementing.... its been a long job and one I will be glad to see the back off.
This wonderful bit of work is a collection of off cuts from shirts donated by two very dear friends, you may recognise them? Jan is learning to use a sewing machine and although she tells me its full of mistakes I think its fab, well done to her.
The second patio door is taking shape with Tony repeating the scaffolding and lintel lowering. We now have OSB infill panels in the holes left by removing the windows and the chapel is quite dark inside. So we have made a larger pathway around the back of the stable ready for the air source heat pump and french drain. To keep everyone happy Jan is now making cake every day... it seems to be going down extremely well.
