Here in Cornwall, Radon Gas is a part of all building work and measures need to be in place to vent it out of the building. We have a network of pipes to do this and hope that will satisfy the building control guys when they come along. It is also slowing up the shuttering process but needs to be done and we may be very glad of it later when we are living in the chapel.

The shuttering and beam cutting is coming along but I hope it is a case of getting worse before it gets better!
Tony is hopefully going to create the patio door openings for us and so we have had to think about how to get the sills out and what will hold it all up. I created a little sketch which helped me think through the levels etc and shows what needs to be done. .... I hope!
The new wonder tool is still working and the floor is moving slowly forward. The steels for the Sunday school are going to arrive on the 6th November so now working on the shuttering for the pads to be poured and hopefully hardened in time. 6 pads to create, 3 concrete beams to be cut in several places and new block work to support them to cement in.
So the block and beam is down but the edges do need some work and its slow and bespoke! Each block needing to be cut to size and shape depending on the rock walls.
We purchased an angle grinder through a round about route from Homebase via Argos in 3 different towns and a round trip of 65 miles!
It is amazing and cost £15, yes £15 what a bargin deal if you can hunt it down. It cuts through the rock to get it level below the floor or to square it up. Lets hope it carries on working and turns out to be as useful as the B&Q special. We had a great few days being tourists visiting Polperro, Carnglaze caverns and Constantine bay. It was wonderful to have Gilly, Kev and Joe here making great memories to cherish. Please come again soon . The Sunday school is to be re roofed. Dave and Ray friends from Portsmouth have travelled down to do the daring deed. The weather has been fab all week and they worked very long hours to get it done - great work boys. They were delayed by the 'bat man' not being able to get to site before Monday afternoon. Having put up scaffolding on Sunday they were ready to go but waited on the step until he arrived! The nails on the front were very stubborn and our supplier failed to get the 'Velux' windows to us meaning they had no choice but to put on the roof without them!
Many thanks Dave and Ray it looks great and has been positively commented on by many folks locally. We almost look like a real selfbuild! A view not seen before and one that shows our lovely house and caravan.
After weeks of waiting I managed to get some BT trunking which is now waiting for the fibre connection that is so elusive until Openreach get their act together!!
