After the trepidation of the lowering of the lintel its time for the granite we had made by Terry from a block taken out of Plymouth dockyard, to be secured in place. They look fabulous and the new patio doors are going to be awesome!! Meanwhile....Chris has taken down the gable ends in the stable. These were very wobbly and had many large holes in the stone work. That and lintels that had more wood worm than wood had taken its toll on the stability of the whole structure. We are going to build a concrete ring beam around the whole stable to firm everything up and give a base to build up new walls and roof....well done Chris. Hmmm, it will all be okay in the end.

A fantastic end to all the hard work Tony and Richard have put in to prepare for the challenge of lowering the lintel.
A big push on today Nick has started moving some of the large mole hills and Tony and Rich have enough steels in place for holes to be made in the walls. If all goes well, we will be moving the lintel tomorrow.
Tony and Rich begun the tricky task of creating the supporting framework that allows them to take out the large granite lintel below the windows and then to drop it down to become the threshold step for the patio doors.
We had many discussions over these windows and making them into doors. It will be a big expense, is it worth it, what if it all falls down, who will do it? In the end we decided to go for it, whens its finished lets hope all is good and the results are fab...fingers crossed.
Chris came to help out today, he took out the remaining stable walls whilst Tony and Richard opened up the window from the Sunday school that will lead via a new glass and timber link to the stable. Magnificent work guys!
