The last few days have seen the underfloor heating pipes go in place across the floor. We will have five thermostats and several 'zones' all controlled by a special control box...what else! We are now getting ready for the cement floor to be poured over them on Monday. They are still under pressure with no leaks so all good to go and we decided to have a day off with a trip to Castle Drogo.

Today is a little quieter as Dave, Ray and Luke have returned to Portsmouth for a well deserved rest. We have the new guttering to put up and I still am not fit enough to get up a ladder so Jan has rolled her sleeves up conquered her anxiety and got stuck in. I'm so proud of her. Chris and I organised it at ground level and then sent it up to Jan to fix to the newly painted fascia boards. Single hand she measured, held and fixed the brackets and then worked out how to get the gutter in to place. It looks wonderful she did a great job. Dave, Ray and Luke have completed the roof and it looks amazing. Thank you all for the hard work and skills that have made such a big different to the Chapel roof. We have had many people tell us what a great job we are doing and Jan and I pass that straight on to you. You have now completed all our roof and we hope that next time you come to see us it will be for a well earned rest!
As the scaffolding is still up until the end of the month, we ordered the guttering from a company called Rainclear. We went for graphite grey but when it arrived it was too dark and so after contacting Rainclear again, we organised for it to be picked up and returned whilst another order for plain galvanised guttering was shipped out.
The second day of underfloor heating. Pipes went in to the Kitchen and Stable bedroom. They were connected to the manifold and put under pressure to check for leaks....no leaks occurred hooray!!
We had a good day today, more of the roof was completed, the underfloor heating people arrived to put pipes down, and the top half of the flue for the log burner went in.
The steps to the veggie patch are now in place! Chris has made a great job of it all and has begun to dig over the soil ready for the turf to be laid. It will need to be rollered first. I have laid the plastic inside the building ready for the underfloor heating pipes to go down and Dave and the gang are going great guns on the roof.
We are so close to being ready for the underfloor heating, everyone is working very hard. Treeve is our electrician and he is here on a Saturday placing cables under the floor. The guys on the roof continue to work hard and we now have felt and batten on the roof and slates being added. as The facia boards have been scraped, sanded, undercoated and glossed! Thank you everyone. Can you see the new recruit on the roof...Mike is thinking of a new career! It was great to see Polly and Mike here again and we look forward to seeing them again any time.
We needed some large rocks moved so Chris can build some steps this weekend and the guys made light work of them.
Tony has started to create the link between the stable and Sunday school, sadly the scaffolding is in the way so it cant be finished just yet. We have decided to make an apple tree fence and Jan has carefully shaped the branches to suit where we will eventually make wooden supports. Chris made a bit more wall, it looks fantastic. As if to remind us just how pushed for time we are the underfloor heating pipes arrived today!
